Even districts gather at the tree for santa hats.
Odd districts gather at the Carolers of Grenth for antlers.
...at least thats the plan I've seen people talking about a vote of some sort to determine gifts.

How long will this gravy train last??
Well, here we are day 2 after New Years and you still can trade items for wintersday gifts, more importantly the candy canes. If you haven't already started to do so, I highly recomend that you farm like there is no tomorrow these items. I myself, have been farming the skulls from the gargoyle near Nolani Academy. People are buying them for 100-150 gp each. Which isn't that bad. So far I have made 58k from these people in 3 days and have acquired 1500 canes for my own use. This by only farming for 90 minutes a day. So earn that easy money while it is still available. If ya don't that is your choice. Just for me, it's hard to pass on easy money that doesn't involve cheating or misleading others. Just pure supply and demand. WOOT!

I feel bad for you selling at 150 or less. I bought over 4,000 canes from people like you and flipped each and every one for 200 without much difficulty. Total estimated profit: 300k, same time commitment you made or less. I've farmed a lot of canes myself as well, and it was profitable sure. But nowhere near as profitable as exploiting the uninformed masses.
The exploitation had comical elements. Frequently, there would be someone spamming "don't sell to these people candy canes are to cure DP they will be worth [ ] later!" or some such as people were selling to me for 100. Other times someone else would be paying more than I was, but the seller wouldn't read all of the posts and would sell to me for less. Sometimes they would add you to their friends list, PM you to come to Nolani D1 and they would sell you a ton of skulls at the same time someone was spamming to buy for much more. Then there were the poor souls who thought you were insane and wanted to exploit you while the exploiting was good, and would PM "If I farm more, will you be here later tonight to buy them?" then they would give you progress reports like "I have 4 skulls now!". I felt a tad dirty when someone thanked me profusely for helping finance his Droknar's armor...meanwhile he has helped me buy a new vacation home and giant yacht. Thats capitalism for you I guess.
I don't do this anymore because: (1) there is too much competition to buy the canes; (2) too many people are aware they can be sold for 150 or more; and (3) I'm rich so why do it. But for a while the profit sailed in with incredible speed.
Speaking from substantial experience, I don't think there is going to be any real market for candy canes at prices above 250 for a long time, if ever. There are simply too many out there (over 1 million wouldn't surprise me...I know one guy who bought over 20,000 canes), and too few people willing to spend substantial amounts of money on canes. Who exactly would spend $500 per cane? How many would they really buy? Maybe I'll be sorry I sold easily and quickly at 200, but I don't think so. You will, however, see a lot of effort to sell candy canes at high prices. The hoarder I mentioned who has 20,000 canes, for example, bought most of his at 200. He is obviously going to want to sell for 300 or more. Whether he will be able too, now that is another matter. Time will tell.

The difference with Candy Canes is that when they are used they disappear from the supply. You cannot replenish them. Once Wintersday is over, and people start using them they cannot replace them from the exisiting supply. You cannot buy them from a merchant at any price. People will want them for FoW, UW, and Sorrows Furnace and probably in the Fire Islands for skill capping. Intitally, the price will be stable, but eventually the price will start to go up. By summer, they will be harder to find and more costly. Of course the value may very well be limited by what the average player can expect to get on a run through these areas. If you hope to make about 10K on a fissure run with the value of shards and all, then how much will you spend on a candy cane? It will be interesting to watch the economics of it.

Well, you are right they will go for more later on. But, I am looking for money now. Not later. The 1500+ in storage is for my use and for when the prices go up. So I am not really concerned to much about what I sell them for. Though I average around 200 gp each for skulls which nets me a fair amount of cash. But thanks for your input. I am sure people will make use of the info you posted as well.
